Why Frog Policy?

Public policies affect every aspect of our lives as individuals and as members of communities both large and small, so all of us clearly have a high stake in making sure that the policies adopted by our societies are the best ones possible. When the policies that organize and regulate the various aspects of common life are good ones, then we have better opportunities for wellbeing and flourishing; when those policies are bad ones, the effects can be catastrophic. As a result, we are constantly forming opinions about policies, both those being proposed and those already in place, giving our support to those we think “good” and opposing those we deem “bad.”
And yet, it can be difficult to know what policies truly are “the best ones possible” when they are being created and proposed, prior to their implementation. When policies fail in implementation, it is hard to figure out exactly why they did not produce the positive effects that they promised. In the present age of information, we have a superabundance of data and theoretical models available for our consideration, but how do we know precisely what data is true and relevant, which models are sound, and which sources are trustworthy? How do we understand both problems and proposed policy solutions well enough to discern which “ways forward” are likely to yield positive effects and which lead to disastrous outcomes?

Our crowd-sourced policy engine allows people to come to a shared understanding of what policies and subsequent actions best serve their own respective interests as well as the common good. We accomplish this aim by providing resources, tools, and platforms for learning and dialogue on issues key to policy-making in a variety of core areas as well as for the cooperative development of best-practice methodologies for policy creation. Our primary goal is to promote a positive common life that provides maximal and equal opportunities for people to flourish both individually and collectively.
